Choosing specialist support

Ask about relevant specialist training and experience, professional registration, supervision, fees, confidentiality and its limits. Check registration with the relevant professional body and confirm whether the practitioner works with your age group and circumstances. Therapy, expert evidence and formal forensic risk assessment are different services.

For helplines, support after sexual harm and help for affected families, see Support organisations and helplines. You do not need to arrange private therapy to use those routes.
